Fabulous AUGUSTE JEAN French Art Nouveau Glass vase. This magnificent piece of glass is elaborately decorated with a gilt and enameled Moroccan or Persian motif. The very unusual form has three panels separated by applied feather like rigaree which extend down to form the feet. Each panel has a different sized blow-out knob. The body of the vase is a deep cranberry glass. The applied feathers & feet, the applied rim, and the applied tear drops are a lilac color with a gold iridescence which can be seen when the lighting is right. This rare Auguste Jean vase is hand signed A. Jean in gold on the bottom, The vase also has a small applied circular piece of glass impressed with the name A. Jean. Circa late 1800's / early 1900's.
NOTE: There is a large stress crack in the vase and one foot is chipped - see condition statement below and see pictures for details. Because of the condition of this vase it is being sold strictly as is - absolutely no returns.
Size: top appx. 5 1/4" across widest part of top; 12 1/2" high; appx. 11" across widest part of body
CONDITION: large u-shaped crack begins near top of vase, travels down vase to blown nodule, continues under nodule and across body of vase appx. 2 1/2" almost to the adjacent applied feather / rigaree - see last picture; chipped foot - see pic
