Exceptional Antique Opaline Japonesque Geisha Decorated Vase
Exceptional large antique Opaline / Alabaster vase artfully decorated with a classic garbed Japanese woman holding a fan and sword. The greytone figure and water scene may have been created using a transfer, a process dating back to the 1840's. The gilt highlights on the figure, the cherry blossoms and other gilded areas are all hand painted. The vase has a ground and polished pontil on the bottom. There may be some lead content. Not sure of age or maker. Possibly dating back to the 1860's. Could be French or it could be British. A gorgeous vase. A stellar addition to any Art Glass collection.
