Open Branches Pattern Glass Bowl - Circa 1870's

A lovely and unusual bowl which features maples leaves and an open-work twig border. This bowl is also sometimes found attached by a wafer to a dolphin base pedestal. The compote is shown on Plate #7 in the book "Blown and Pressed American Glass" by Richard Carter Barret. These compotes are listed as Pittsburgh area glass. The compote is also shown in "The Glass Collector's Digest", August/September 1996 on page 84. The bowl and compote were listed as being Pittsburgh area glass, circa 1870's.

Size:  appx. 10" X 10" at top edge, narrower at base

Condition: 1 lge & 1 small flake on upper edge;  several light surface scratches

Original Manufacturers Flaws: gaps in the upper border are as originally manufactured
