Incredible Large Gonterman Swirl Amber Opalescent Glass Bowl
A magnificent large deep antique glass bowl with an opalescent base and an amber glass top. The piece is marked Pat.'d Aug 5, 1876. The patent, issued to Hobbs, Brockunier & Co., has to do with the process by which the amber glass is joined to the opalescent glass and is not the date of manufacture. Gonterman Swirl was made by Aetna Glass, circa 1880's.
- Size: appx. 10 1/4" diameter' 4" high
- Condition: excellent undamaged condition
- Original Manufacturers Flaws: 2 very long annealing marks around amber rim; lots of bubbles and tiny inclusions of ash; slightly irregular in one spot where bowl is joined to rim
