A wonderful high standard Waffle and Thumbprint pattern flint glass compote with a lovely deep bell tone. The bowl of the compote and stem are joined together with a wafer. Waffle and Thumbprint was manufactured by Curling, Robertson & Company, circa 1856; New England Glass Co., circa 1868.

Size: 8 1/4" diameter; 6 1/2" high

Condition: 2 small chips on top edge of stem where it joins the wafer; tiny nicks and minor roughness around bottom edge of foot - see pic

Original Manufacturers Flaws: The compote has a wavy top edge, wavy glass, inclusions of ash, annealing marks and lots of bubbles. Based on the manufacturers flaws I would guess this compote dates to the earlier, 1850's Curling production of the pattern.

Item ID: 4287
